8 Things Buyers look for in a Home

Thinking of listing your home? What will potential buyers find appealing in your space? If you’re looking to spruce up your home with the intention of selling, consider these 8 things buyers are currently looking for in a home! Some of these may be considered essential make-or-break items for buyers.

Here are 8 things buyers look for in a home on the market:

01. Efficient Appliances – Efficient appliances will help keep your energy bill low allowing you to save money. These appliances may cost more up front, but really help in the long run and will appeal to your buyer.

02. A Patio – Outdoor space, whether it be big or small is always on the list! Creating an outdoor space before you sell can up the appeal to your home. Buyers see this space as additional square footage.

03. Large Kitchen Sink – It’s been said many times that the kitchen is the heart of the home! Even if the kitchen isn’t large, buyers need to see it as efficient and workable. Having a large sink basin will help with prep, dishes, and other kitchen and entertaining tasks they may be envisioning.

04. Walk in Pantry – A walk in pantry is not something that you think about right off the bat, but it can be appealing to buyers who need more kitchen storage. Even if you have a small pantry, make sure its organized and not over filled.

Consider adding an upgrade or two before selling.

05. Walk in Closet – A walk in closet, especially in an older home is a great surprise. Making sure a buyer can fit all of their belongings in a closet will help you appeal to most everyone. To make your closet look as large as possible, filter out any out of season clothing, shoes, and outerwear.

06. Garage Space – Garages are on the list for a big reason! Car and item storage. Having this extra square footage will be extremely appealing to a buyer. This space can serve to keep their car out of the weather, for storage, or as a studio or workshop! The possibilities are endless!

07. Full Sized Laundry Room – Full sized laundry room vs just a laundry closet is high on the list for buyers. This room will help keep their items stored and organized. A job that a little ole laundry closet is just not up for.

08. Exterior Lighting – Lighting your home is an art form best left to the professionals. This can be used for safety or display. A beautifully lit home is a real sight to see! Consider upgrading before putting your home on the market.
