If you’ve ever seen a Realtor out in the wild, you’ve probably noticed the oversized bag, the juggling act, and the faint scent of caffeine following behind. That’s not an accident—it’s survival.

Real estate isn’t a desk job; it’s a mobile lifestyle. And what we carry says a lot about how unpredictable (and hilarious) this job can be.

Here’s a peek inside the things we actually carry—and why every item earns its spot.

Coffee (and Backup Coffee)

Caffeine is a food group in real estate. Between early showings, mid-day closings, and evening negotiations, you’ll never catch us far from a to-go cup. Bonus points if it’s lukewarm, rolling around in the cupholder.

Our unofficial motto? “Runs on referrals and cold brew.”

If you’re building your own mobile office, trust us—this reusable travel mug from Amazon is worth its weight in latte art.

A Trunk Full of Chaos

You might call it clutter—we call it preparedness.

Inside most Realtor trunks, you’ll find a rotating cast of yard signs, shoe covers, measuring tape, staging props, bottled water, a spare blazer, and at least three deflated open house balloons that haven’t seen daylight since 2022.

It’s our version of a go bag. Because one minute we’re touring a high-rise, and the next we’re crawling through an attic.

Pens That Don’t Work (and 1 That Does)

We own approximately 47 pens. One writes well. The rest are just emotional support pens, carried out of habit.

Add a Sharpie for labeling keys, a highlighter for contracts, and a crumpled inspection checklist we swear we’ll rewrite later.

The Fix-It Kit

Real estate agents don’t just sell homes—we MacGyver them.

There’s always tape, a screwdriver, zip ties, scissors, a lint roller, and sometimes even a small tool kit rolling around in the backseat. That loose door handle before an open house? We’ve got it. That crooked “For Sale” sign? Handled.

For anyone who likes to DIY their chaos too, here’s our go-to compact repair set from Wayfair.

Snacks, Dog Treats, and Emergency Chocolate

It’s not just for us—okay, it’s mostly for us—but we’ve learned that snacks solve 90% of problems. Hungry kids? Granola bar. Nervous dog? Milk bone. Stressed seller? Chocolate square.

We’re not saying we’re heroes, but we’re also not not saying that.

Chargers, Hotspots, and Every Adapter Known to Man

Because nothing says “professional” like your phone dying in the middle of a negotiation. Every Realtor has an extra charger in their bag, glovebox, and at least one emergency outlet plug that dates back to 2014.

The Essentials You Can’t See

Underneath all of that? A lot of patience, optimism, and heart.

We carry the weight of people’s biggest financial decisions. We absorb their stress, celebrate their milestones, and sometimes cry with them on closing day. The tools help—but it’s the compassion and hustle that really keep this business going.

So yes, our bags are heavy. Our cars are messy. And our coffee cups are almost always empty. But every item tells a story—and every story reminds us why we love this job.

If you’re curious what we carry into every listing, showing, and sale, you can peek behind the curtain in our other stories.
